American KungFu Studio

Kung-Fu

At the American Kung Fu Studio we take the best of east and west and blend them in a harmonious and dynamic art, we call American Kung Fu. Our core curriculum is Chinese Kenpo but we also use Northern and Southern Shaolin forms and techniques. From Kenpo we get the power and structure of our basics, as the students progress they learn more complex Northern and Southern Shaolin forms to develop energy and flow.

Chinese Kenpo is a self-defense based system that stresses body mechanics and structure; the main idea is tiger energy to develop strength and power. The Shaolin forms help to develop flow and continuity with the various animal forms; Crane, monkey, dragon, snake to name a few. Combined together, a dynamic combination of grace, power, strength and flexibility, both in mind and body are developed.

Once the basic skills are learned, usually around green sash, the students start to learn various other aspects of American Kung Fu, this includes weapons training, joint manipulation and takedowns. They are also introduced to martial qigong

In this class, we teach meditation and Qigong techniques that will help you increase your self awareness, build a higher level of energy, and develop physically, mentally and spiritually. These easy to learn techniques also help to reduce pain, stress, depression, and more. No experience is necessary but Level I Qigong, which is taught 3-4 times a year, is helpful.

Kickboxing

kickboxing The kickboxing class utilizes Filipino boxing, American boxing, and Kung Fu techniques in a fun and energetic atmosphere. The class combines a high level energy workout for cardiovascular conditioning with the use of medicine balls for strength training. This class is primarily non-contact though there is occassional partner work with kicking and punching pads. Basic self defense is taught in the process but it’s primary purpose is for health and fitness. The class is for adults of all fitness levels who want a fun and different way to get and stay in shape.
